Sam and Dal's Wedding - 16th October 2010 - Part 1

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Sam and Dal's wedding at The Spa Hotel, Tunbridge Wells . Dal was keen to follow Sikh tradition for the ceremony, but marry it (excuse the pun) to English tradition, so the wedding was an awesome fusion of traditions, and a great deal of fun to shoot!

Whilst Sam and the girls got ready up in the bridal suite, Dal's preparations began with turban tying, followed by the Varna (the grooms eyes are lined), the groom is ceremonially fed, and cash is given,  followed by the Milni - formal introductions of the families in pairs (fathers, then mothers etc.).

Here are some of my favourite pictures from this part of the day - I have broken the whole day up into sections, so come back soon to see the arrival of the bride and groom and the ceremony - the arrival took everyone by surprise so be sure to come back!!!

A few quick Bangra shots...

Here are two sneak-peek shots from Dal and Sam's wedding - they had a troupe of Bangra Dancers to perform before there first dance, who were quite energetic!! I thought I was going to join the proceedings at some points, they came a bit too close for comfort!

It's been a busy few months...

A manic September means I'm a bit behind on the blog updates - I'll be blogging another wedding very soon, whilst I have a full few days processing Sam and Dal's amazing Sikh/Spa Hotel combo wedding.

Nia & Andy, 25th Sept 2010 Llandaff Cathedral and Fonmon Castle

Late in September, I made the trip back down to my home town of Cardiff in Wales to shoot Nia and Andy's wedding, which was held at the amazing Llandaff Cathedral and then Fonmon Castle, near Barry (of Gavin and Stacey fame!!!). It was a great day all round - from the weather (unusually sunny for Wales), amazing locations and a great couple, to the impromptu singing during the reception! here are some of my favourites from the day!

At this point, just as the couple walked back down the isle, a small dog raced in through the open doors of the cathedral, straight down the isle and between them - definitely the most unusual event of this years wedding season (just behind the snake in the porch of the church the week before!)

Bridal boudoir and portraiture

Here are a few images from a recent bridal boudoir and portraiture session. Bridal boudoir is an up and coming area of photography - image your husband to be opening a stylish album of stunning boudoir images of his fiance on the morning of the wedding. These sessions, held prior to the wedding, are great fun and are more like a pamper day, as your hair and makeup is professionally styled and we shoot in some awesome venues. Strobist shoot

Here are a few photos from an afternoon of strobist shooting around Tunbridge Wells. For those not familiar with the term, 'strobist/strobism' is using small camera speedlight flashes (strobes in America) off-camera to create more dramatic portraits using a 'quick and dirty' approach rather than spending hours on set up etc.
