Rachel and Chris's wedding

Saturday saw the wedding of two good friends, Chris and Rachel, at Boxley Church and then Oakwood House, Maidstone. Despite a very damp start, again we were incredibly lucky with the weather as the rain stopped just long enough for the group shots (we even had the sun out at one stage)....

Pictures to follow shortly, but congratulations to you both, a great time was had by all!

Yervant course

Last week I attended a 3 day seminar in London with Yervant, who is one of the World's leading wedding photographers. Yervant has a signature style with a very arty look to his fantastic pictures, which is quite different to my usual reportage style. Over the course of three days I got to work with Yervant on shooting stlyes and amazing photoshop techniques, and also liaise with some of Britain's leading wedding photographers - always nice to swap tips and techniques! I'm busy processing the images in a 'semi-Yervant' style, here's a taster!

Like all courses, it's going to be a case of taking some of these techniques and blending them into my own style - sometimes there's a tendency to go too much overboard and overdo every image suddenly...here's a few straight out of the camera...

Sarah and James' wedding

Sat 12th September saw the wedding of Sarah and James at the Registry office Tunbridge Wells, with the reception at the Brew House Hotel.

Once again, we were lucky with the weather so stopped off at Calverly Park for a few outdoor shots before we went to the Brew House.

The hotel itself has some great features - we took some timeout from the main crowd to use the funky bar downstairs, which meant I could use some strobist flash setups!

Jiayi and Ming's wedding 16/08/09

Last Sunday I had the absolute pleasure of photographing the wedding of Ming and Jiayi at the South Lodge Hotel, Horsham.

A hot, very sunny day made for some challenging lighting conditions....I couldn't resist some of the architectural features of the Hotel, despite the light not being optimum. Still, I think they came out well!

James and Sarah's pre-wedding shoot

Earlier this month I met up with James and Sarah one sunny morning for a stroll round Dunorlan park for their pre-wedding shoot, prior to their 12th Sept wedding at the Register Office in Tunbridge Wells and reception at The Brew House Hotel.

The Brew house is a very modern boutique hotel with some great funky areas so hopefully we'll get some great shots that mirror it's interior.

Gemma and Craig pre-wedding shoot

On a hot, sunny Sunday I met up with Gemma and Craig for a 'try before you buy' pre-wedding shoot. Gemma and Craig had expressed an interest in meeting up to discuss their wedding plans with me, seeing some example albums and going out for a shoot.

We headed out to Greenwich park for a two hour stroll around in the sunshine. Although I had a quick look on the net at the park, I'd never been there so scouted the venue 'on the fly' as we went....

Due to most of London being in the park, we couldn't really use many of the classic shots up by the Observatory, but found some quieter spots before heading down to the Naval College.

This is a great way for prospective clients to get to know me, see how I work, and see results personal to them before they commit to a photographer - getting on with who you choose is just as important as the results they create - you want your big day to be fun and relaxed so you need to have a photographer you get on with.

I really enjoyed the couple of hours we spent together and hope to work with Gemma and Craig - not least because their venue is the best in London....

Joanne and David's wedding 08/08/09

A great day shooting Joanne and David's wedding at St Michael's Church Betchworth. The church was apparently used in the film "Four weddings and a funeral" and is a lovely village church.

Unfortunately, we weren't allowed to shoot the actual service - unusual, but this couldn't be helped...
